About

# About Thrift Morrow

Small, free tools for households that want their money to go further and their things to last.

## What it does

Thrift Morrow helps with everyday decisions: whether to repair or replace, which subscriptions earn their keep, what a price costs in hours of work, how to read a care label, whether secondhand beats new, and how to run a no-spend challenge.

## How it works

Every tool runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to a server. The subscription list, the no-spend tracker, your currency symbol and your theme are kept in your browser’s local storage on this device, and you can clear them at any time.

The site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies or cross-site tracking and never receives what you type into the tools. See the [privacy page](https://thriftmorrow.me/privacy/) for the details.

## Where the figures come from

Appliance lifespans come from the NAHB / Bank of America Home Equity study of 2007 and InterNACHI’s life expectancy chart, shown as ranges with both sources named. Care symbols follow ISO 3758 as explained by GINETEX, and the US ASTM D5489 symbols under the FTC’s Care Labeling Rule. Where no good source exists, such as for phones and laptops, the tools ask you rather than guess. The money tools use whatever currency symbol you choose and never convert between currencies.

## What it is not

These are guides to help you think a decision through, not financial advice. The tools don’t work out tax, and a typical lifespan is not a promise about your own washing machine.
